The six Vanderbilt Cup Races held on Long Island from 1904 to 1910 were the greatest sporting events of their day, and the first international automobile road races held in the United States. The races had a far-reaching impact on the development of American automobiles and parkways. This site provides comprehensive information on the races, the Long Island Motor Parkway and current Long Island automotive events, car shows and news.

Hi Huntley and Ken:
The right-of-way of the Motor Parkway (west of Little Neck Parkway) is in parking lot of the Queens County Farm Museum http://www.queensfarm.org/. The LIMP right-of-way on the east side of Little Neck Parkway is 74th Avenue. There are no remaining traces of the Motor Parkway from Winchester Boulevard to Little Neck Parkway.

Hi Howard,
Considering all the beautiful cars that were there, this is a major achievement. It justifies all the hard work by you and John to make the ALCO a winner once again.
Congratulations! It is well deserved.

Howard—
Congratulations as well, but what’s a “Properly” Vintage Race Car? And were there any improper ones in sight?

I had the pleasure of meeting her at an SAE Washington, D.C. Section meeting many years ago. Wondered what ever happened to her.

Howard,
Thanks for the mention, but some credit needs to go to Rich Motycka for that as well. I plagiarized him a little from previous material we had on file!
Great seeing you yesterday!
