The Black Beast at the Lake Ronkonkoma Car Show
Despite early morning showers cancelling the parade, the Sun came out and a good time was had by all at the "First Annual Motor Parkway "Sunday Drive" to Lake Ronkonkoma Parade & Car Show. Some highlights:
Howard Kroplick, Barbara Russell, historian for the Town of Brookhaven, and Ellyn Okvist, organizer of the event.
Barbara Russell brought this piece of Long Island Motor Parkway memorabilia given to her by Evelyn Ericson, daughter of the last Ronkonkoma Lodge gatekeeper Eric Ericson. The tag reads: "This Coin Changer Used by a Mr. Ericson at Ronk. toll station of Motor Parkway 1920's."
Stephanie Gress, Director of Curatorial Affairs for the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum, enjoys a ride in the Black Beast.
"Maude Adams" played by Laura Cummings in the Black Beast.
A painting of Petit Trianon by local artist Maria Hansson was on display.
My first tattoo!! .... from the kid's arts and crafts booth.
Comments
From Maria Hansson:
“Hello Howard,
I want to thank you for giving my husband Carlo a ride in the Alco-6 Racer! It made me happy to see him happy, I really appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Maria Hansson”
Howard, I was there. You look like you enjoyed the day.
Didn’t I tell you (when we first met at Roosevelt Field) that my Hubby Steve was absolutely crazy about Motor Pkwy????!!!!
