Kleiner’s Korner: My Personal Tribute to Tom Seaver

From a 13 year old in 1969 to today, Tom Seaver and the NY Mets would always be special to me.  Hope, being the underdog, perseverance epitomized the NY Mets and their fans in those early years.  I feel it only fitting that Kleiner's Korner devote this brief post to Tom Seaver, may he rest in peace.  Another baseball great of Seaver's era, Lou Brock also just passed away at age 81 - may he also rest in peace.

Tom and I enjoying some memories of 1969 at an autograph signing in 2006.

One of my treasures from the Amazing Mets!

A toast to Tom Seaver!

One of the many scrap books I created memorializing that special 1969 World Series.

In these trying times, maybe we should all try harder!

In this special Kleiner's Korner, here is the original Kiner's Korner host, Ralph Kiner interviewing the Franchise Tom Seaver on April 5, 1983 following Tom's debut for the second time as a NY Met.

Great shot with Seaver, Art! Though too young at the time, he still was an idol in my world growing up in Woodside. Glad you both had the opportunity to meet and share a great moment in time together!

What many people forget is that Seaver was on the 86 Red Sox team. How ironic would it have been for him to pitch AGAINST the Mets in that World Series? Due to a knee injury he didn’t make the postseason roster. Thank God.

Better days might be ahead for the Mets! The Wilpon era is coming to a end (thank God again) and we have high hopes for our new owner, once confirmed. If A Rod bought the team I was NEVER going to watch another Met game ever. Biggest cheater of all time.
