Dave and Sam, always love your explorations and observations along the old LIMP.  Your discoveries help assist in locating the actual roadway and its structures, and any changes to the roadway up to this current point. Your contributions are always most appreciated. In regard to “Leading up to the Wantagh Parkway - there is pavement underneath here”, I believe at this point, you guys were just over the Central Railroad RoW (CRR), with the LIMP RoW approx 60’ just north, on the eastbound lanes of Salisbury Park Drive. That’s my thoughts. I could be wrong.

Great stuff! There’s always something to learn here. The celebrity pics are great and also including WWI Ace Rickenbacker. Much appreciated, thanks!

Artist Peter Helck seated on the mechanician’s seat and possible owner of Alco Old 16 at this time, first U.S. winner of the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup Race driven by George Robertson. Guessing the athlete is a golfer, possibly wearing cleats, but who? Check out those cars parked in the lot, that’s a mystery all its own.

Congratulations Howard! Sorry I missed Greenwich but it was nice to see you and the Tucker 1044 yesterday at the AACA Meet at Old Westbury Gardens where it was surrounded by spectators once again. It looks spectacular in that green color.

What fun!  I’m no sports fan but I sure know Peter Helck when I see him (especially with a 1940 Chrysler over his left shoulder!) in his (then) Old 16 Locomobile racer.  Wild guess - golf, because of the knickers, so Gene Sarazen (only name I can think of).  Ca. 1950 (from ‘49-50 Chrysler product between the two)?  Can’t wait for the real poop!  Sam, III

There’s some old coverage of Russell Road from 2004 on my LIMP Central Nassau page at <http://sbiii.com/limpcns1.html#russ-ocr> and a lot on Roslyn Road from 2002 and earlier on my LIMP page 12 (which, with pp. 10 and 11, somehow never got transferred - I’ll do it now, promise) <http://sbiii.com/limpwy12.html#roslodge>.  Sam, III

I was going to ask that you remind me about (or refer me to) the move of the two sections of the Salvation Army Hotel.  It seemed vaguely familiar - aha, for those who might also not recall, it was covered in detail in the 11 Dec 2018 blog, including the current location.  It would appear from today’s satellite view, attached, that the right angle section, nearest us in the 1928 aerial view, was cut off at some point in or after the move.  Sam, III

Is that Babe Ruth? The short length of the slacks he’s wearing suggests part of a baseball uniform.

OK, just a guess on some points but here goes….
1) Peter Helck
2) clothing, golf knickers
3) Bobby Jones
4) Peter Helck “ol’ 16” Locomibile
5) late 40’s early 50’s judging by the Cadillac in the background.

Artist is Peter Helck. The car is Locomobile ‘Ol 16’.The hint is athletes pants, they are plus fours worn by golfers. So I guess is athlete is a pro golfer. The year is 1949 -50,that is the year of the new Cadillac convertible in background. The Caddy probably delivered the Locomobile, judging by the trailer hitched to it.
