From the George McKesson Scrapbook: Preparing the #7 Mercedes for the 1906 Race
As posted last week, pharmacuetical magnate George McKesson purchased a Mercedes racer just ten days before the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup Race. Brown immediately commissioned photographers Spooner & Wells to document his car before and during the race. The following photos show driver William Luttgen and his mechanican Marx preparing the car prior to the race.

The Eight Winning Drivers of the Vanderbilt Cup Races (1904-1916)
Eight drivers won the 11 William K. Vanderbilt Jr. Cup Races held from 1904 to 1916. Three drivers, Harry Grant, Ralph DePalma and Dario Resta, were two-time winners.

Vanderbilia to be Displayed at Upcoming Museum of the City of New York Exhibition
"Cars, Culture and the City," opening at the Museum of the City of New York on March 25th, will be the first exhibition to "document New York's role in the promotion, marketing, and proliferation of the automobile as well as its transformative effect on the city and, ultimately, the country."
