Article “The 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race” by Peter Helck
For the 1948 Veteran Motor Club of America Antique Auto Show, prominent artist Peter Helck, then owner of "Old 16", wrote an article on the Vanderbilt Cup Races for the official program. Another Vanderbilt Cup Race Mystery: Was Eddie Rickenbacker the Mechanician in this 1906 Photo?
John Bayer wrote: "Not sure the guy in mechanician's seat in Frayer-Miller is Rickenbacker, even at 16. Rick's nose was much broader, and several of the Auburn pics you have posted show that...mystery". (5 comments)

Update: VanderbiltCupRaces Exclusive- Inside William K. Vanderbilt Jr.‘s Hangar and Seaplane
After the end of the Vanderbilt Cup Races on Long Island in 1910, Centerport on the North Shore of Long Island was an ideal location for William K. Vanderbilt, Jr. to build a new estate. Northport Harbor enabled Willie K. to pursue his love of yachting and, later, flying. (3 comments)

Searching for the Renault Vanderbilt Racers- the Ferrari Enzos of Their Day
Last May,VanderbiltCupRaces.com reviewed the special 1907 Renault Vanderbilt Racers that were built for William K. Vanderbilt, Jr. and his friends. I noted that of the 11 cars that were built in 1907, five are known to exist today. Today's challenge: Post photos of these racers. (1 comments)

Views from the Pits of the 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race
One innovation of the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup Race was the first use of service racing pits in an American automobile race.The 1908 rules allowed only the driver and mechanician to work on the car. However, the rules were modified in 1910 to allow two of the pit crew to replenish water, oil and fuel and to assist in replacing tires. (3 comments)
