Kleiners Korner: The 1906 Vanderbilt Cup Race “Dip of Death”
One of the most dangerous parts of the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup Race was the "Dip of Death", located near Spinney Hill in Manhasset. Robert Edgren illustrated these dangers in the Oct. 6, 1906 edition of The NY Evening World. (3 comments)

Kleiner’s Korner: A U.S. Army Signal Corps (Mineola) Scrapbook
The U.S. Army Signal Corps established a base in Mineola in 1916. First Lt. P.R. Stockton (1880-1962) was stationed there as a member of the First Aero Squad and recorded his time in photographs in a scrapbook he compiled throughout his military service. The scrapbook is in the archives of the National Air and Space Museum and available on the website of the Smithsonian Institute. (4 comments)
