Sunday in the Park Concours, Lime Rock, CT

Ladies, Gentlemen, Fellow Enthusiasts,

Skip Barber, Murray Smith and I are delighted to inform you that Lime Rock Park’s Historic Festival 32 will take place this year on the established Labor Day Weekend, Friday, August 29 through Monday, September, 1, 2014. In addition to the racing, Thursday, August 28 is the now very popular Vintage Race Car Parade & Falls Village Street Fair, a 17-mile “rally” which begins on Sam Posey Straight mid-afternoon.

The Sunday in the Park Concours, August 31, will celebrate our commitment to the confluence of motoring icons from road and track. Your participation is the key to painting that picture; the unique mix of characters, stories and fantastic automobiles is what makes this weekend special to all of us.

Last year, despite less-than-perfect weather, we saw a fantastic collection of more than 700 vehicles participate in the Sunday in the Park Concours & Gathering of the Marques Car Show. The quality of vehicles from all participants was supported by an outstanding group brought by Honored Collector Lawrence Auriana; his collection of Italian competition machinery was such a pleasure to see in person.

This year, we would very much like to provide a special honor to the Abarth and OSCA marques and expect to see an array of these splendid automobiles – both racing on-track and as special classes in the Sunday in the Park Concours. If you have one of these cars or know somebody who has one, please get in touch with us and let them know that they will be most welcome at the Festival.

We are also happy to announce that Sir Stirling Moss and Lady Susie had such a good time when they came to Lime Rock Park a couple of years ago that they are repeating their visit this year. We have also heard from a major manufacturer that they will be present with some of their current and past successful sporting cars.  We will be making a more formal announcement about that in the next few weeks.

You will find the Concours entry application attached to this letter and should note that we have maintained the same entry requirements as last year. If you have trouble accessing the attachment please visit this link to download the application: http://limerockhistorics.com/concours/entryapplication/.  All Concours entries must be pre-1985; outstanding 1985 and later examples may display in Gathering of the Marques. Please contact Ryan McIntosh at 860.435.5000, ext. 305 or [email protected] to display in Gathering of the Marques. If you are returning to the Concours as an exhibitor and have more than one car in your collection, please enter a vehicle that has not been shown in the Concours already. This will keep our field fresh, and give you a chance to compete for a new trophy!

For Concours exhibitors, the Riverside Café will continue to be a place for you to relax, get off your feet, and enjoy some tasty food and shade among fellow enthusiasts. Advance admission forms for the Café will be sent to you once your vehicle is approved. Tickets may be purchased at the gate on a space-available basis and a higher price, so send us your Café entry early.

If you have any questions about your entries, or about cars owned by friends who have not participated before but would like to enter, don't hesitate to reach out to our Concours Administrator, Jeanette Veitenheimer at 860.435.5000, ext. 308 or by email at [email protected]. We are all looking forward to seeing you again this year at Lime Rock’s Sunday in the Park!

Sincerely,

Sunday in the Park Director,            Historic Festival Chairman,               Patron,
