On April 4, 1924, a daring burglary (and murder) occurred in broad daylight in Bellmore, Long Island in which The Motor Parkway played a key role. The story made headlines for the next 10 years as evidence was found, mobsters were tracked down and captured and re-trials were held.

Mystery Foto #4 Solved: A Never Before Published Photo from the Newbridge Road Motor Parkway Bridge
I am pleased to announce that in cooperation with Garden City Village Historian Bill Bellmer, VanderbiltCupRaces.com has obtained 139 scans of the only known copy of the 1908 Long Island Motor Parkway Construction Scrapbook from the Garden City Archives. Many of these photos have never been published including this weekend's Mystery Foto.

Kleiner’s Kolumn: Revisiting the Transformation of the Motor Parkway into Salisbury Park Drive
Several comments to last month's Mystery Foto #43 (identification of the Motor Parkway west of Newbridge Road in Levittown) pertained to Salisbury Park Drive. Additional documents provided by the Nassau County Department of Public Works (NCDPW) uncover improvements to the Motor Parkway in this location and its incorporation into the county highway system.
