The six Vanderbilt Cup Races held on Long Island from 1904 to 1910 were the greatest sporting events of their day, and the first international automobile road races held in the United States. The races had a far-reaching impact on the development of American automobiles and parkways. This site provides comprehensive information on the races, the Long Island Motor Parkway and current Long Island automotive events, car shows and news.

This image was taken from 8mm film footage taken by me at that race weekend. I have no idea of the car or drivers. Have a slide of the antique cars on the main straight somewhere. I will turn 79 this month but memories of those days at the Bridge still make me smile

Quite simply… Proud Dad here. Gram has been going to car shows with me since he was 4 years old. His observations have always been amazing. And the same goes for his photos. There’s always a camera ready to create some auto art. Well done Son.

This looks like the main straight at the Bridgehampton Race Circuit, probably around 1960 from the clothes being worn. If so, it would be at the vintage car exhibition prior to the Vanderbilt Cup race when it was the main event at the SCCA’s “Double 500” event for unlimited sports racing cars.

Sure the roof has been replaced at least once since the Weathervane has been last noticed. Somehow figure out who last did work up there?

The factory built Hudson prototype pick up on the on the new 1948 “Step-Down” mono-built body & chassis combination. It was used around the factory for many years and then sold to Lavigne Hudson on East Warren Ave in Detroit.
besides the Hudson factory and Lavigne, I am the 3rd owner since 1961. Hudson built pick-ups on a production basis from 1929-1947. the ‘46 & ‘47are still quite popular.

Not a windmill but a weather vane. Old age is gaining on me.
