The aircraft in the background of the photo at the airport is a Stinson SM-6000-B, Reg. # NC10840, c/n 5041, built 1931, and used by Century-Pacific Lines, then American AW, and then Caribbean Atlantic Airlines Inc.  It Sank off St. Homee, Virgin Islands, 1946.  See https://www.grandcentralairterminal.org/airplanes/NC10840/index.php  for a complete history of the aircraft.

Thanks for these maps.  In 1914 W. K. Vanderbilt Sr. commissioned a mansion, stables an garage at Jericho. It was called Stepping Stones. Anne Harriman Vanderbilt sold Stepping Stones in 1921 to Mr Ormond G. Smith.  I’ve been wondering where the estate was located and now I see O.G. Smith disgnated on a parcel.

Art. Re: Hannah Baldwin/Ridgefield Land Company on the 1909 and 1917 maps. The Ridgefield Land Company was created and owned by the Motor Parkway to acquire property for the ROW and for its construction.  On Jan. 29, 1908 the Ridgefield Land Company purchased that parcel of 27 plus acres from Hannah Baldwin, etal, paying $7975.00

Marty Himes was an American icon of motor racing history and a Long Island native.  He passed in 2023 and it took several years to sell off all the memorabilia he collected in his lifetime. 
This website honors Marty and offers a glimpse into what that man meant to the preservation of Long Island racing’s history. 
We attended several of Marty’s annual ‘birthday/reunion’ events over the years, always held on his property where everyone could walk among an incredible collection of artifacts, signs, programs, flags, real race cars, toys, trophies, magazines, race suits and more.  And Marty was always at the center of everything racing on LI, having driven for years on LI tracks like Freeport, Riverhead and Islip Speedway.
Thank you Howard Kroplick, for helping to keep Marty’s memory alive and we hope his family takes comfort in knowing so many do remember Marty and feel honored to have known him.
