Central Park Historical Society to Honor the Long Island Motor Parkway
Members of the Central Park Historical Society have informed me that they plan to honor the Motor Parkway with two historical markers; one on Stewart Avenue the site of the 1908 Ground-Breaking Ceremony and another at the site of the Central Avenue/Railroad Motor Parkway Bridge. (0 comments)

Vintage Car Rally on the Old Bethpage Motor Parkway Bridge on June 30, 2012
In celebration of the continuing efforts to preserve the Long Island Motor Parkway, members of the Long Island Motor Parkway Preservation Society and all owners of pre-1939 automobiles (the Parkway closed in 1938) are invited to rally at Old Bethpage Village Restoration on Saturday, June 30, 2012 and drive over the Old Bethpage Motor Parkway Bridge. A prolific member of the Hudson River School of painting, Eric Sloane (1905-1985) was an artistic genius. Among his nearly 15,000 paintings was this 1933 sketch of Roosevelt Field including "Ye Motor Parkway". (5 comments)

From the NYC Municipal Archives: Images from the Motor Parkway and the 1937 Vanderbilt Cup Race
