A.R. Pardington: “The Modern Appian Way for the Motorist”- The 1907 Pitch for the Motor Parkway
In November 1906, A.R. Pardington became the primary salesman for the planned Motor Parkway when he was elected general manager and second vice-president by the Long Island Motor Parkway, Inc. A treasure chest of over 100 Long Island Motor Parkway surveys, maps, blueprints and drawings has been discovered in the basement of a commercial building in Malverne, Long Island. The chest belonged to engineer Arthur Archibald who surveyed the Motor Parkway from 1906 to 1938. (26 comments)
