    Film- The First “E-Z” Passes- The Porcelain Plates of the Motor Parkway

    From 1913 to 1937, the Long Island Motor Parkway Inc. issued porcelain annual-fee plates to permit unrestricted year-round use on the Motor Parkway. It is likely these plates were the first "E-Z" passes, allowing cars to pass toll gates without stopping. This two-minute film documents the various designs of the Long Island Motor Parkway plates.     In June 1946, the Veteran Motor Car Club of America sponsored its 50th Anniversary Jubilee featuring a parade of 75 vintage cars and nine races at the Mineola Fair Grounds on Long Island.     Film “A.R. Pardington and the 1911 Indy 500 Race”

    A.R. Pardington was William K. Vanderbilt, Jr.'s right-hand man and helped develop both the Vanderbilt Cup Races and the Long Island Motor Parkway. Last March, a family member Marshall Davies Llyod emailed VanderbiltCupRaces.com requesting photos and films of A.R. I found the photos but no films... until today. (0 comments)
