VanderbiltCupRaces.com Exclusive: The Rare 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race Radiator Plate
One of the most elusive pieces of Vanderbilia are the special radiator plates to signify entrants practicing for the 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race and the associated Sweepstakes races. Although these plates were documented to exist, I believe no one had actually ever seen them...until my favorite co-author Al Velocci examined this photo of three 1910 Abbott Detroits posted on April 12, 2011. Insight Into Long Island Motor Parkway License Plates
Noel Gish (President, Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum Board of Trustees): "Regarding the ALPCA meeting: How many Long Island Motor Parkway license plates were issued to the public? Does anyone have a “guesstimate” of the total? Who has the license plate number 1? Does it exist in a collection somewhere ? What would be the current cost to acquire one of the originals LIMP plates today if they are even available? Thanks for your help." (2 comments)

Nunley’s Carousel and the Vanderbilt Cup Races
For several generations of children on Long Island, a fond memory was riding Nunley's Carousel on Sunrise Highway in Baldwin. Closed in 1995, Nunley's Carousel was restored and relocated to the Cradle of Aviation in East Garden City in 2009. While attending a Thursday cruise night at the museum, Bruce Latten checked out the carousel and noticed a link to the Vanderbilt Cup Races. Click on the photos to enlarge them. (0 comments)
