Vanderbilt Cup Races

Last year the Japanese network NHK developed a televison series "America on Paper Print Film" exploring the Library of Congress' collection of 3,000 silent films.

One of the paper print films featured in the series was the American Mutoscope & Biograph's film of the 1904 Vanderbilt Cup Race.

To supplement the viewing of the 1904 Vanderbilt Cup Race film, NHK conducted an interview with me last October during the showing of the Vanderbilt Cup Races & Motor Parkway exhibit at the Cradle of Aviation..

This is a three minute segment of the NHK film featuring scenes from the 1904 Vanderbilt Cup Race, a wonderful video of the Alco Black Beast and my interview translated into Japanese:
