    Today the first Port Jefferson Hill Climb held 100 years ago will be re-enacted at Port Jefferson Village Center. At 10:00 AM, come see the Alco "Black Beast" and many other vintage cars climb the same hill as the early racing greats.     Port Jefferson to Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Hill Climb on Sunday

    During the first decade of the 1900s, there were three types of automobile competitions; road racing to evaluate speed and endurance, long-distance tours to determine durability and hill-climbs to measure strength and torque. This Sunday, the Village of Port Jefferson will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of one of the most famous Long Island hill climbs.
