Last year, I was honored to receive a personal tour of the Simeone Museum in Philadelphia by the renowned Dr. Fred Simeone. Hanging on his library wall, I discovered this Vanderbilt Cup Race masterpiece drawn by the wonderful Peter Helck.

Henry Ford Museum 1966 Program: Sports Cars in Review
The cover of the 1966 program for the Sports Cars in Review exhibition at the Henry Ford Museum featured specially commissioned artwork by Peter Helck. It featured Helck's 1921 Benz-Mercedes "Rabbit-the First" and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR.

Helck Family Collection: Peter Helck’s Illustrated Wagner Envelopes
The great racing artist Peter Helck was a close friend of Louis Wagner, the winner of the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup Race, for 13 years from 1947 to 1960. This friendship was marked by a multitude of correspondence between Montlhery, France and Millerton, New York, including artwork from Helck and photos from Wagner.
