Kleiner’s Korner: The Motor Parkway Bridges & the Nassau County Board of Supervisors in 1907 & 1908
Long Island Motor Parkway General Manager Arthur Pardington petitioned the Nassau County Board of Supervisors in 1907 and 1908 to gain approval to construct bridges over and under public roads. Thanks to the records of the proceedings we can view the process undertaken.

Nassau County Department of Pubic Works Surveys and Maps: Closing the Motor Parkway
In a new Kleiner's Kolumn, Art Kleiner has obtained maps and surveys (1938-1968) from the Nassau County Department of Public Works detailing the plans for Motor Parkway after it closed in 1938.

The Day the Long Island Motor Parkway in Nassau County Actually Closed
Reflecting the impact of the Depression and the ever expanding Northern and Southern State Parkways, the Motor Parkway officially closed on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1938. However, Mitch Kahn found this cover article in the July 2, 1938 issue of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle indicating the Nassau County section of the Motor Parkway remained open for another two and half months.
