Updated: The 1940 Membership of the Long Island Aviation Club
In my effort to collect everything related to the Vanderbilt Cup Races and the Long Island Motor Parkway, years ago I purchased the 1940 membership book of the Aviation Club of Long Island (Long Island Aviation Club). It turns out to be an important research tool for Dr. Katherine Sharp Landdeck of the Texas Woman's University.

Cradle of Aviation Archives: The Aircraft of the Long Island Aviation Country Club Part I
The Cradle of Aviation Museum has provided 68 images of the Long Island Aviation Country Club taken from 1930 to 1949. In the first of the LIAM series, several of the notable aircraft that flew from this private airfield are featured.

Aerial advertising kites flying near the 1909 Vanderbilt Cup Race grandstand
When thousands of spectators arrived at the start of the 1909 Vanderbilt Cup Race, they were amazed to view over 20 advertising kites flying 25-50 feet near the grandstand. These aerial advertising kites and banners are documented in the Lazarnick Collection of the Detroit Public Library.

Treasure Chest of Surveys and Maps Draws Large Crowd to the Parkway Preservation Society Meeting
Almost 100 people came out to view the recently discovered surveys and maps and a wonderful presentation of "Hidden History of Long Island" by author Richard Panchyk at the April 20th meeting of the Long Island Motor Parkway Preservation Society.
