Central Park Historical Society Marker: The 1908 Motor Parkway Ground-Breaking Ceremony
Earlier this month, the Central Park Historical Society dedicated two markers in Bethpage honoring the Long Island Motor Parkway. The second marker was placed on Stewart Avenue near the site of the Motor Parkway Ground-Breaking Ceremony held on June 6, 1908.

Central Park Historical Society to Honor the Long Island Motor Parkway
Members of the Central Park Historical Society have informed me that they plan to honor the Motor Parkway with two historical markers; one on Stewart Avenue the site of the 1908 Ground-Breaking Ceremony and another at the site of the Central Avenue/Railroad Motor Parkway Bridge.

Then & Now: Central Park (Bethpage)
It was a great turnout last night at the Bethpage Public Library. A total of 73 people attended the presentation "The Motor Parkway, Vanderbilt Cup Races and Central Park" hosted by the library and the Central Park Historical Association. Here are five "Then & Now" images from the presentation.
