1958-1967 tours of the Long Island Motor Parkway #1: Queens
From 1958 to 1967, an unidentified couple documented their tour of the Motor Parkway with over 70 photos taken from the Western Terminus in Queens to the Eastern Terminus (Lake Ronkonkoma). In the first of a new series, these ten photos feature our favorite parkway in Queens taken around 1958.

The Long Island Motor Parkway Paintings By Harvey Kidder
In 1955, the Lincoln-Mercury Times commissioned illustrator Harvey Kidder to paint five scenes of the Long Island Motor Parkway to accompany an article "The Granddaddy of Superhighways" written by David Kahn. Here are the five paintings with the captions used in the article and my suggested revised captions:

Video “The Queens Motor Parkway Bike Path”
Nycbikemaps has posted this 2009 five-minute video of the Brooklyn-Queens Greenway bike path including a good portion of the Motor Parkway in Fresh Meadows. The 20-minute bike ride was played back at 4 times the speed. As a result, you can visualize what it was like to ride on this section of the Motor Parkway at around 40 miles per hour.
