Update: The 1946 VMCCA Jubilee Anniversary at the Mineola Fair Grounds
In June 1946, the Veteran Motor Car Club of America sponsored its 50th Anniversary Jubilee featuring a parade of over 75 vintage cars and nine races at the Mineola Fair Grounds on Long Island. Update (June 13, 2020): Another film on the Jubilee has been posted on YouTube.

Hemmings.com: Last two surviving Breese roadsters head to auction in Philadelphia
Kurt Ernst of Hemmings has reported that the two surviving Breese roasters will go to auction in Philadelphia. Articles and films on the 1911 "Breese of Paris" racer have been previously posted on VanderbiltCupRaces.com.

Helck Family Collection: “The Most Thrilling Race I Have Ever Seen” by Barrett H. Clark, Jr.
In the November 1947 issue of Speed Age influential editor and literary manager Barrett H. Clark, Jr. described "the most thrilling race I have ever seen." Surprisingly, the race was last race of the 1946 VMCCA Jubilee Anniversary held at the Mineola Fair Grounds in Garden City.

Southampton’s James L. Breese and the Vanderbilt Cup Races
James Lawrence Breese (1854-1934) was a wealthy stockbroker and renowned amateur photographer with a spectacular country home in Southampton. Supported by a fortune made in finance at his firm Breese & Smith, his real passions were photography, art, automobiles, racing and architecture.

A Mystery Photo from the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup Race: The B.L.M. Racer
One of the many nice people that I met last Friday at the Saratoga Automobile Museum was Marie Foster of Champlain Canal Tour Boats. Marie brought along this photo with the caption "1906 Vanderbilt Racer, NYC." One of her favorite vintage car photos for years, no one had ever been able to identify the car. Since I always enjoy a Vanderbilt Cup Race challenge, here is my attempt to solve the mystery:

The 1911 Breese Racer
Sunday's post featured a film of the 1946 "Race of Racers" where Old 16 driven by Joe Tracy just beat out the 1911 "Breese of Paris" Racer driven by Bobby Breese. Walter McCarthy has provided this photo of Bobby Breese and his car.
