Hey Sam, that photo listed circa 1935 the Airflow is 1935, side engine vent is 1935, the front grill/hood was somewhat similar to the lower Airstream models from ‘35-‘37. The original 1934 had the waterfall grill design, a dud! It appears to be a series C2, a comparison, ‘35 Buick series 60, (61,67) had same wheelbase as the Airflow C2, about same price, outsold the Airflow. Sam check out the smartly dressed couple at rear of the car, owners? Yes driving deluxe on the LIMP.

Seems like taking on the tasks of an Historian can make one out as a unsung hero. I don’t mind helping out, but being in charge must be daunting at times. Keeping of history has to be a labor of love. My hats off to all who take this on!

This is the former entrance ramp to the Motor Pkwy and to the Meadowbrook lodge. We’re looking West from Merrick Ave in East Garden City/Westbury across the street from Eisenhower Park. The lodge was up the hill and just to the right behind the building against the low hedge in the back. But before reaching the lodge the ramp ascended up the hill, curved to the left, then quickly curved back around towards the lodge. Howard, sending a photo . 

This ramp also provided access for spectators viewing the 1908 - 1910 races. The parkway bridge just to the right of the photo carried the Motor Pkwy through the center of the building. 

When Brian McCarthy and I tried to gain access last year, we were greeted with a closed gate and overhead camera. I think the gate remains open during business hours

Looking West from Merrick Ave at was once the exact location of the entrance for the Meadowbrook Lodge.

The Meadow Brook Lodge was the beginning of the parkway section for the 1908, 1909 and 1909 Vanderbilt Cup Races courses.

Comments and questions.  OCR is NOT diagonally across first (1938) shot; it’s the east-west north end of the field, south of the LIRR main line.  The southernmos{?} hanger on Clinton was the Moisant hangar, #11, where George Dade lived when his father moved east to LI to work spruce for Curtiss; they got off the LIRR train or trolley at the Clinton Road station and first saw their new home from the top of the Clinton LIMP bridge.  The private S-43 is shown as having been bought by Harold S. V. in 1938, not Willie - ???; in WWII, it became a USAAF OA-8 (not USN JRS-1 - my bad).  Boeing 247D - my fav. - new shot for me; thanks.  ERCO was Engrg. & Research Corp. started by (Gramophone and carbon mike inventor) Emile Berliner’s son, Henry (no relation), in 1930.  Great thread for me, personally!  Sam, III

Clearly NOT Roger price, the famed comedian, who died in 1990 (and CERTAINLY not Vincent Price).  Oh, ye of little faith; of course Rob knows (he’d better!).  Howard, I second Frank F.; please do tell how it came to be in your hands - or is it a repro?  It looks too good to be true.  Very odd proportions, too; wouldn’t fit on any car or bracket I’ve ever owned.  Sam, III

Rog, this is an original 1948 Tucker license plate that was sold two years ago on EBay. Amazingly, Koby, a fellow Motor Parkway license collector, discovered that his friend had one of the Tucker 44 plates.

Koby contacted me via this website.It took three months, but a deal was finally made last week. The plate is now on my desk and soon will be on Tucker 1044!
