Hope everyone had a nice Christmas!

Thanks for the images, Art. I’d say the uprise/hill on the last 2 images reveal the west slope of the former ‘Meadowbrook’ Pkwy Bridge.

Hello,

I received much better pictures now and they are probably released the first time.
The first one is very good portrait of Franz Heim.
The other shows a Vanderbilt Prince Henry Benz.
One correction to my last comment about the Zar picture: Franz Heim is standing on the right.

Thanks Art, a wonderful Christmas gift! In addition, NYS is simultaneously working on the Ocean Pkwy bike/ped path, completing that 17mi dream as well. Thanks to all involved for making these long-awaited and much-needed improvements come true.

I had the opportunity to quickly speak with Mr.Jeff Norton in the 2019 Jaguar Invitational at the Vanderbilt Museum in Long Island, the Bugatti clone was hand built by him, pencil marks with the measurements written on the metal still visible, Nissan engine and as close as possible to the original reflect the high level of craftsmanship and passion for the trade. So surprised on how little information you can find on this very interesting gentleman. Hopefully you guys enjoy a few of my pictures, and please let me know what you guys think.

Queens Rd. became Hollis Court Blvd., which ran from the LIE to 46th/47th Ave. The Q26 ran on it, which I routinely used to go the the IRT in Flushing. It started across the Street from what became Penn Fruit (I think it became a Waldbaum’s). We moved to the neigborhood in 1953. Nothing was there. Penn Fruit came in in 1958. The Blue Bay Diner, a few years after that.

That’s a 1917 Winton 6 cylinder 48HP house car with custom body by McKay Carriage Works originally built for Dr. E. J. Fithian of Grove City, PA. In 1957, it was owned by Metropolitan Opera star James Melton, who nicknamed it “The General”. In the 1970’s, it resided in the Harrah’s Automobile Collection in Sparks, Nevada. The most recent owner could be Buck Kamphausen, a California mortuary and cemetery entrepreneur. Our very own movie star, Howard Kroplick portrayed Alexander Winton in the History Cannel’s “The Men Who Built America” series.

Possibly a ‘20’s model, could this be the world’s first RV sporting Confederate flags?

Brian, When the Mitchell Gardens complex was laid out there were three entrances from Stewart Ave. From west to east they were, Linwood Ave., Kenwood St. and Willow St. Based on your map, it appears Linwood Ave. was the first to go because of the Meadowbrook ROW.

Where it was headed?  Many years ago I saw Willy’s own maps at Stony Brook I believe that showed his possible routes to the Hamptons.

What happened to Kleiner’s Korner?

When did this change to Kleiner’s Kolumn?
