It was a long haul to have this magnificent car restored to it’s condition as new. A completely authentic restoration. My thanks to you and Roz for stepping up to save and preserve this great machine. Sincere congratulations on the award and recognition at the world’s premier car event. We are so proud of what you have done and I am glad that the judges at Pebble Beach also recognized this as well.

Congratulations Howard! This is a special automobile and a well deserved award. Can’t wait to see your Chrysler on display here on Long Island where it spent much of it’s life. Enjoy that trophy!

Huge congrats on the win Howard! I think most of your regular readers were confident that you would be first in class after following the restoration process updates and the meticulous labor involved in bringing the car back to life. Beautiful job on the car and win!

Howard, needless to say, we all admire you for undertaking the extraordinary restoration of the 1937 Chrysler. Please consider bringing the car to the 16th Annual Hallockville Museum Farm Show on Sept. 28 and I will personally guarantee you free entrance. How can you pass up that offer?

George

Sure hope John or Steve or Walt or Roz or you remember to install the windshield wiper arms and blades before the judging!  As a dedicated Chrysler Straight 8’er, I think you can only imagine how pleased I am at Steve’s work and your persistence, Howard!  Bonne chance!  Sam, III

That looks like the Aurora Cup, awarded during a series of 4 races run as the National Stock Chassis Road Races on the Elgin (illinois) Road Race Circuit in August 25-26, 1911. The four races were for varying distances with the Aurora Cup being the shortest at 135 miles. The other 3 races were the Kane County Cup (169 miles), Illinois Cup (203 miles), and the Elgin National Trophy Cup (305 miles). The ALCO Black Beast (along with 2 other ALCOs) was entered in the Elgin Cup but did not finish.
