There most have been many questions,from the many that were there,from what I can see here. I’m a “newbie,” who started out researching the exact spot where the L.I. Country Club Airport stood, which Howard’s info that the Parkway there was 22 feet wide.  I’m now hooked on the Mootor Parkway!  I hope to attend tomorrow night’s meeting and would love to meet some of you1 Maybe a couple of you are interested in the airport?  If so, please introduce yourselves to me. I have silver hair, a beard and glasses.  I think I an make it.

Went passed the intersection today and noticed the building housing the Shower Door is for sale.  How about a collection to buy it and rebuild Krug’s Inn on the spot?

2 things to clarify - 136 Jericho Tpk is on the North East corner of the intersection, and if the building was built in 1890 according to town records, then the 1906 picture looking north should show it, but since it is slightly east of the corner, therefore the building would be just out of the frame of the picture (it would be the location of the Mineola Diner).

Re the 999 car Howard and the program were correct it is a modern interpetation of the Baker Torpedo Kid , Tim George is working on the Torpedo for Kid stuff go to torpedo kid.com the site has a facebook link I posted some build info there, looking for 2016 events to take the car.

From Mystery Foto #17 Solved: A Summer 1908 Touring Cruise to Krug's Corner and the 1908 Race Course

There will be some guessing in my answer. Possibly the photo shows a moment in an outing organised by the Long Island Automobile Club. The american flags indicate some special day, e.g. Independence Day, July 4th. The location is at Krug’s Hotel looking west, there is no doubt about that. About the cars, unfortunately the photo is not very clear and sharp, and also not all cars are all that visible, so at the moment my idea is that we see from left to right: Maxwell, unknown tourer, Winton, unknown, Reo (with bear mascotte), Reo, possibly Knox sportabout, Reo and Ford (probably a model S). All cars are 1907 or 1908.
The teddy bear on the Reo could of course very well point at the president Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt. 1908 was an election year (the election was to be held on 3 November) and it was Roosevelt’s last year as a president, having served already two terms. His successor would become William H. Taft. So another possibility is that the tour was related to the coming election.
