I grew up in Chryslers like this (not Town Cars, though) and it took me way back!  Magnificent work; magnificent film.  Even the two rods under the hood holding the bullnose to the cowl were on my ‘39!  Thanks.  Mike Warshaw has two other films posted, entitled “Woodies as far as you can see” 1 and 2; that shop (Steve’s?) has every Chrysler I ever owned or drove (or drooled over) up through a 1950 and beyond, including a super-rare ‘42 T&C!  What a treat for this old codger!  Sam, III

This vehicle was one of seven Alcos and one Isotta Fraschini rescued by Joe Loecy of Chardon, Ohio from the same source and restored many years ago.  It was driven in the Rose Bowl parade with singer Kate Smith as a passenger, and was to be the vehicle Joe was to drive in the ill-fated 1976 Bicentennial Around the World Auto Race, which never occurred.  It is interesting to note that he chose to drive this car over the dozen or so pre-WWI Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts he owned.  Joe sold it to Berliet back in the 1980’s, and I was present when he made the deal to sell the vehicle.

Looks like Henry Ford II at the release of the first Mustang. The year would be 1963-4 as it was the 1964-1/2 and neither a ‘64 or ‘65 model at that point in time. October was when most cars were released in photos, and some as early as September like the Edsel.
I’m guessing it was at the factory’s showroom, perhaps in or near Detroit. I drove one of the first Mustangs, with a 3 on the floor, and plaid convertible top with the six engine.

My guess at the mystery photo is Henry Ford II on April 17, 1964 in front of the Ford Pavilion at the New York World’s Fair. I hope I’m at least close.

The man’s name is Henry Ford II, grandson of the founder of the the automobile manufacturer of the same name.

The photo was taken in Flushing Meadow Park in the borough of Queens NY at the Ford Motor Company pavilion on the occasion of the opening of the Worlds Fair April 17th 1964 which coincided with introduction of the Ford Mustang automobile.

i like the look of the car with the canvas top over the driver’s compartment. You don’t have to deal with the metal roof quite suitable for California maybe not so much for Dearborn.

That EFFYH was driven by Fitch in the first race at Bridgehampton in 1949. It was later reconfigured by Tim Wood of Harvey’s Lake, PA for his own BrynfanTydden races with a Norton Manx motor. It is currently in England and is a hopeful for Goodwood next year. I’ll look up the original race entrant (the owner of the tow car who hired Fitch to drive the Formula 3 to a DNF) soon after the Bridgehampton rally celebration on Oct.11 which will be featuring race cars this year.

The gentleman sitting on the railing in this picture is Henry Ford II, at the 1964 New York Worlds Fair Ford Pavillion in Flushing Meadows, Queens,NY he is displaying the new 1964 Ford Mustang, and the likely date of this photo was taken was around April 17,1964.

When I first saw this picture a couple of years ago I asked the owner of Grand Prix Motors, Westbury Jeep Chrysler, if they had any records or photos of this vehicle. They looked in what they had of Grand Prix’s records from back them but nothing came up. They were just as curious as I but no info was available. I’m especially interested to know if it’s sitting in a barn somewhere!
