The six Vanderbilt Cup Races held on Long Island from 1904 to 1910 were the greatest sporting events of their day, and the first international automobile road races held in the United States. The races had a far-reaching impact on the development of American automobiles and parkways. This site provides comprehensive information on the races, the Long Island Motor Parkway and current Long Island automotive events, car shows and news.

Unfortunately, I don’t know of any large reproductions of the posters currently available.
I would purchase them also!!

Dear Howard,
Has anyone thought of making large prints of the 1910 poster? I’d love to buy one. Would frame it and hang it in a place of honor along with other such auto racing and Lancia posters we have in our house.
Sincerely,
Jim Steerman

Very, very nice. Thank you.
I did not realize that Willie K. lived so long and saw the evolution of the auto from those days in the early 1900’s to the 1940’s.

Do we know who the mechanic was that rode with Willie K. on his Number 1 Mercedes?

It is my belief that the pilot should be where the ground breaking ceremony took place. It is the most appropriate spot given the historical significance it holds.

Very interesting. I’m looking for another car - but the $2.225 million is a bit beyond my reach. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for this video. Yesterday, March 29th, I sent out a request for information about Tazio Nuvolari for a presentation I will be making sometime in the future at the International Motor Racing Research Center in Watkins Glen, N.Y. If anyone out there has links or information to share, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks, Joe

Hi Walter:
Great job! Thanks!
Is it possible to link the registration number seen in the side headlight with the owner’s name?
Enjoy,
