This past summer on one of my Long Island visits, I endeavored and attempted
to re-photograph the bridge.  I was denied access to the location at the scale house
and due to it being a Friday and a bit late, their office was vacated at this time.  I
then called their office and was flatly denied and was told no photgraphs !!! I then
copied my previous photographs and sent it to them hoping for a reply and none
came. 

Today, I called and left a message for possible admission to the site to do
a photo shoot.  Having said all of this, I give you my data, information and findings
so that perhaps you gentleman can pick up the ball and run with this ?!?!?!?.

Previous photos:  Probably were taken on a late weekday night or Saturday as
there was only a foreman or security guy present and he let me do the shoot as this
was back in the early 80’s.  At this time, the location was Farmingdale Materials
and Clifford Broman.  Today it is Clifford Broman and by his son Chester along
with Rachel Broman as noted on Corporation filings and now known as 110 Sand
Company. 

My phone call during the summer months went to Carole Golden who
is the office manager.  Jennifer took the call and rolled it over to Carole.  I was
also denied in speaking to any of the owners or managers at this time. In waiting
a long period of time for a reply, I opted to call today and spoke to Jennifer and I
also left a message to Carole Golden for a reply. Jennifer did remember me as my
photographs and letter was ever present in her mind.

Hey Howard, Got a couple of comments regarding the first 1938 aerial photo. First ,of particular interest to golfers. part of the red course at Eisenhower can be seen above the motor parkway r.o.w. Those same holes are still in use today. Today’s first and eighteenth holes are south of the parkway. They replaced the orignal holes when today’s clubhouse/ticket sales building was erected in the 1950’s. Of more interest to parkway buffs is the that the parkway r.o.w. thru Eisenhower Park is still in use today. It is paved and used by park employees to get around the park. The begining of the curved section on the right is used today by golfers to get from the 17th green to the 18th tee. Every time I drive a golf cart on this section anyone who happens to be in the car with is told the are riding on the old Motor Parkway. The kind of response I get is usually determined by how well they played the 17th hole. Keep up the good work, Al Velocci

That building in the last two photos was owned by a classic car collector , it contained his car transmission business . Gene Beardslee lived in Brookville and was a great guy, and real “hands on” car collector. He had some magnificent classic cars from the 1930s - Cord, a magnificent Cadillac V16 limousine, Packards etc. and had local CCCA members visit his home to see his cars and have some refreshments. It was a great loss to us all when he passed away.

It helped the museum, and brought a wonderful car back to life and to the light of day!  I think that Howard has helped many people see something very special in just a matter of months, and for that, all of us antique car collectors and buffs should give him our thanks!  And not just for Chrysle’s Chrysler!

Ha Howard,I was thinking Eisenhower Park too,but didn’t mention it because you did’nt reply to it,so I thought it was wrong. Now I have a question,you may know it. In 2010 what museum put in a gallerywith A Gentleman’s Coach House complete with tack room and groom’s room?  This question is for everybody. Hi Howard,    What’s going on? No one seems to know the answer to this one,you really got them going on it. Most of us are thinking along the lines,but are wrong. What do you think about telling us the answer,then we can comment about it? Or have us rack our brains somemore. I don’t have anymore ideas of where it is. I’ll hate to give up. I would just like to know where it is and where I went wrong looking for it,that’s what everyone else is thinking too I guess. Howard, please don’t leave us hanging

I was born and raised in Lake Ronkonkoma about a mile from this mansion/restaurant and my father worked for some time in the 30s as a toll collector at the end of the road. The Petit Trianon was fashioned after the original palatial home in France.

As a son of the former historian of Brookhaven Town, Suffolk County, N.Y., I offer the this map. After the Petit Trianon went into disuse we used to play in the ruins and use it as our “fort” back in the late 40s and early 50s until it was razed.
