Updated: Walter McCarthy Collection: Then & Now- The Long Island Automotive Museum
Eric Shaffer and Dan Kretzer recently visited the site of the Long Island Automotive Museum in Southampton and documented its current condition. I have combined their "Now" photos with "Then" photos from the Walter McCarthy Collection.

Walter McCarthy Collection: The Opening Year of the Long Island Automotive Museum (1948)
Walter McCarthy, prominent Long Island automobile collector and Henry Austin Clark, Jr.'s friend for over 25 years, has provided his extensive files and photos of the Long Island Automotive Museum. First in this series are documents and photos from 1948.

Henry Austin Clark, Jr: “Why Save Old Cars?”
In 1956, Henry Austin Clark Jr. created a brochure "Antique Cars" for distribution at the Long Island Automotive Museum in Southampton. It included this article by Austin entitled "Why Save Cars?" , which described the state of car collecting in the 1950s and why the Long Island Automotive Museum was created.

New Series:William S. Jackson’s “Memories of Henry Austin Clark: Capturing a Freya Radar Station”
William S. Jackson, former editor of the AACA's Antique Automobile and the CCCA's Classic Car magazine, was a friend of Henry Austin Clark Jr. for 27 years. In response to a request from author Beverly Rae Kimes in 1996, William wrote an article "Henry Austin Clark, Jr. As I Remember Him".

It was truly an unforgettable evening last night with 118 people paying tribute to automotive icon Henry Austin Clark, Jr. and his Long Island Automotive Museum at Bethpage Public Library.
