Driver Harry Grant with mechanician Frank Lee drove the 1909 Alco Black Beast in the greatest races of its time; two Vanderbilt Cup Races, two Elgin National Trophy Race, one American Grand Prize and the Inauguaral Indy 500 Race in 1911.

The Restored Alco-6 Racer Returning to Long Island!
I am pleased to announce the restored Alco-6 Racer that is believed to have won the 1909 and 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Races will be returning to Long Island in 2009. I have purchased the car from Jean-Louis Duret of Annecy, France. Click on these links for information and images of the car.

Looking for the Restored 1909 Alco-6 Racer
It has been over 15 years since the restored 1908 Alco-6 racer that won the 1909 and 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Races called the United States its home. For years, I had heard the car was in a lobby in an office building in France. Three weeks ago, I decided to take up the challenge of finding the current location of the Alco.
