This Vanderbilt Cup Race driver profile focuses on Ray Harroun. Ray was the winner of the first Indy 500 Race driving a Marmon to victory in 1911. He also won the 1909 Wheatley Sweepstakes Race that was held in conjuction with the 1909 Vanderbilt Cup Race and finished 21st in a larger Marmon at the 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race.

In the Indy Formula One Garage and On the Track: The Marmon Wasp that Won the 1911 Indy 500
One day prior to the 2011 Indy 500 Race, the Black Beast and other race cars that participated in this year's pre-race ceremonies were stored in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's Formula One Garage. Among these racers was the 1911 Marmon that won the Inaugural 1911 Indy 500 Race driven by Ray Harroun:
