Film “50 Years of Automotive Progress” Featuring Henry Austin Clark, Jr.
Today's post is a real treat.... a seven-minute film that has not been seen by the public for over 52 years. "Fifty Years of Automotive Progress" was created by independent film maker Scudder Boyd and featured Henry Austin Clark, Jr and several of his vintage cars from the Long Island Automotive Museum including these six: This seven-minute film "50 Years of Automotive Progress" was created by "scudder boyd films". Starting Lineup: The 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race
A large field of 30 cars raced in the 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race held on October 1, 1910. The race was run on the same course as in 1909- a total of 12.64 miles including 5.15 miles of the Long Island Motor Parkway. The Two Pope-Hartfords in the 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race
A leading manufacturer of bicycles in the 1890s, the Pope Manufacturing Company began making automobiles at the turn of the century. Their cars were branded according to the location of the manufacturing plant and style; Pope-Robinson (Hyde Park, Massachusetts), Pope-Waverly Electric (1904-1908,made in Indianapolis), Pope-Tribune (Hagerstown, Maryland, 1904-1908), Pope-Toledo (1904-1909, Toledo, Ohio) and Pope-Hartford (1904-1914, Hartford, Connecticut).
