The Greatest 33 Profile: Ray Harroun

As part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Indy 500, last year race fans aroung the world selected "The Greatest 33" drivers in Indianapolis 500 history. #25 was Ray Harroun who won the 1911 Indy 500, the 1909 Wheatley Sweepstakes and finished 21st in the 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race. Article “The 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race” by Peter Helck

Another Vanderbilt Cup Race Mystery: Was Eddie Rickenbacker the Mechanician in this 1906 Photo?

Update: VanderbiltCupRaces Exclusive- Inside William K. Vanderbilt Jr.‘s Hangar and Seaplane

After the end of the Vanderbilt Cup Races on Long Island in 1910, Centerport on the North Shore of Long Island was an ideal location for William K. Vanderbilt, Jr. to build a new estate. Northport Harbor enabled Willie K. to pursue his love of yachting and, later, flying. (3 comments)

Searching for the Renault Vanderbilt Racers- the Ferrari Enzos of Their Day

Last May,VanderbiltCupRaces.com reviewed the special 1907 Renault Vanderbilt Racers that were built for William K. Vanderbilt, Jr. and his friends. I noted that of the 11 cars that were built in 1907, five are known to exist today. Today's challenge: Post photos of these racers. (1 comments)
