This represented 156 visitors per day with an average of 4 page views and 3.2 minutes of view time.     VanderbiltCupRaces.com Exclusive: Starting Lineup for the 1936 Vanderbilt Cup Race

    In 1936 the Vanderbilt Cup Races returned to Long Island at the new Roosevelt Raceway built in Westbury. The 300-mile race consisted of 75 laps over the 4-mile road course. A total of 45 race cars competed on October 12, 1936. For the first time, images of 34 of the starters for the 1936 George Vanderbilt Cup Race are presented on the Internet.     The daybreak start of the Vanderbilt Cup Races attracted thousands of adventurous men and women who streamed into Long Island from New York City. With hotels and roadhouses overflowing, they camped, gambled, drank, socialized, and established a tradition of revelry that became a hallmark of the event.
