Vintage Automobile Ad Series #1: American Locomotive Company

“Once-In-A Lifetime” Indy 500 Centennial Experience Available at Upcoming JCC Auction
On Saturday night, February 12, 2011, the 16st Annual Auction for Excellence will be held in East Hills, New York. The auction, hosted by celebrity master of ceremonies Ron Darling, will benefit the many social service programs of the Sid Jacobson JCC. To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Inaugural Indy 500 Race, one of the premier items offered at the auction this year is a "once-in-a-lifetime" Indy 500 Centennial Experience Package. Film “The William Luttgen Story (1877-1965)”

The Mystery 1952 Vanderbilt Cup
John G: "I have a large 18 inch "Grecian Urn" style brass/copper trophy that has engraved on it WINNER VANDERBILT CUP RACE 1952. A quarter size medallion with a 50s race car in the center and "Ethyl Grand Prix Vanderbilt Cup Race" is above the graving. Can you please share wtih me any information/history you may have on this piece? It's quite beautiful and I've enjoyed looking at it for the 30 some years I've owned it.Thank you." (3 comments)
