    Update #3: Damage to the Old Bethpage Village Restoration Motor Parkway Bridge

    As reported over the last five months on VanderbiltCupRaces.com, the Old Bethpage Village Restoration Motor Parkway Bridge was subjected last year to dumping of debris and an attack by graffiti vandals.     Art Kleiner’s Exploration #2: The Motor Parkway East of Bagatelle Road in Dix Hills

    One of the current bravest explorers of the Long Island Motor Parkway is Art Kleiner. There is not a forest, thorn patch or hill that will stop Art from finding remnants of the Motor Parkway.     In Search of Alcos: #9 1913 Alco Model 6 Berline Limousine at Crawford Auto Aviation Museum

    Over the last three months, we have attempted to document the Alco "12"- the 12 existing rebuilt and restored cars made originally by the American Locomotive Company in Providence, Rhode Island.     A New Monthly Record Set for VanderbiltCupRaces.com and April 2011 Highlights

    VanderbiltCupRaces.com set a new monthly record in April for total views (29,306) and attained the second highest monthly visitors (6,088). Following March's record of 210, the daily unique visitor average of 203 represented a 74% increase over April 2010.     The D.W. Griffith Vanderbilt Cup Race Film That Almost Was

    In 1910, D.W. Griffith, the pioneering American director, proposed to create an innovative racing film for American Biograph & Mutoscope . Using the Vanderbilt Cup Race as the backdrop, Griifth wanted the film narrative to highlight "triumph over adversity and competitve rivalry".     Starting Lineup: The 6 Cars of the 1910 Massapequa Sweepstakes

    During the 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Race, two other sweepstakes races were run simultaneously for commercially available stock cars. The Massapequa Sweepstakes had six entrants for the smallest stock cars who competed for 10 laps over 126.4 miles.
