The 48th bridge in the series documenting the 60 bridges built by the Long Island Motor Parkway is the Plainview Road Bridge in Central Park (now Bethpage). It was one of the original bridges built for the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup Race. (1 comments)

The 1962 “Car Auction of the Century” at the Farnesworth Garage
Continuing yesterday's story of the "Farnesworth" garage, around 1924, the estate was purchased by a Standard Oil heir Wallis Clinton Bird and his wife Marjorie Winifred Kendall. Wallis kept a spectacular collection of cars in the garage. (7 comments)
