Video “The Richard Petty Driving Experience: 145 MPH in a 600-HP Impala”
Earlier this month, my youngest daughter Dana and I participated in the "Richard Petty Driving Experience" at the Walt Disney World Speedway. This four-minute video highlights our three laps around the track at speeds up to 145 miles per hour in a 600-HP Impala. It was a blast!! (0 comments)

George Vanderbilt Cup Race Tickets and Passes
Dave, your father likely used this ticket to attend the first George Vanderbilt Cup Race held at Roosevelt Raceway on October 12, 1936. The race was won by the great Italian Tazio Nuvolari, seen here receiving the huge trophy from Willie K's cousin, 22-year old George Vanderbilt III. (2 comments)

A Tribute to Peter Helck (1893-1988), the Great American Artist
Born in 1893, artist Peter Helck was just 13 years old in 1906 when he attended the Vanderbilt Cup Race as a spectator. Who could have known at the time his razor-sharp mind was absorbing memories that would transfer onto canvas decades later with amazing accuracy. (3 comments)

Vanderbilia to be Displayed at Upcoming Museum of the City of New York Exhibition
"Cars, Culture and the City," opening at the Museum of the City of New York on March 25th, will be the first exhibition to "document New York's role in the promotion, marketing, and proliferation of the automobile as well as its transformative effect on the city and, ultimately, the country."
