    Chicken à la King, Foxhall Keene and the Vanderbilt Cup Races

    The hometown favorite of the 1905 and 1908 Vanderbilt Cup Races was millionaire sportsman and Wall Street broker Foxhall Keene.     Roslyn News “Classic Autos Still Have Plenty of Firepower”

    The September 10th issue of the Roslyn News reported on the Sixth Annual Vanderbilt Cup Centennial Celebration held at the Nassau County Museum of Art on Sunday, August 30th. Reporter Joe Scotchie noted; "Large crowd turned out to view Vanderbilt Cup Racer...It was another well-attended event as the organizers look forward to more succesful celebrations in the future."     Film “The Long Island Automotive Museum”

    The place to go to view vintage automobiles, race cars and trucks in the New York area soon after World War II was Henry Austin Clark Jr.'s Long Island Automotive Museum in Southampton. This amazing 5-minute film documents the opening of the museum on August 27, 1948 and a typical day at the museum in the early 1950s. The film was provided from the archives of the Long Island Old Car Club by Walter McCarthy and is being shown to the public for the very first time on VanderbiltCupRaces.com . (17 comments)
