    Painless Parker and the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup Race

    Earlier this week I sent Dr. Jack Binder, the historian for both the Town of North Hempstead and Village of Lake Success, a set of photos on the Manhasset Valley section of the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup Race Course.     The primary grandstand for the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup Race was at the Start/Finish Line on Jericho Turnpike in Westbury. A second grandstand with a capacity of 500 spectators was built near Spinney Hill in Manhasset. (4 comments)

This 8-minute segment describes the origins of the race and the Alco Black Beast racer that won the 1909 and 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Races.
