The Alco Black Beast Running the 2026 Port Jefferson Hill Climb

The Alco Black Beast Running the 2026 Port Jefferson Hill Climb

On Saturday, October 10, 2026 the Alco Black Beast ran in the 116th anniversary of the 1910 Port Jefferson Hill Climb.

A fun day for all in attendance, the Alco ran the course twice and ran at the hill with ease.

Back in 2010, The Alco ran in the first Port Jefferson 1910 Hill Climb re-creation.

It proved to be so successful, that Port Jefferson has brought it back a few more times in 2015, 2021, 2023 and now, a fifth time in 2026. With the exception of the first run in 2010, the Alco has attacked the hill like a car that was 117 years younger. Some long-time readers may recall the 2010 hill climb took place in extremely hot weather and overheated while waiting its turn, but not so in subsequent runs.

The hill climb also provided an opportunity for friends, old and new, to come together. Here, Howard reconnects with his coworker, Christine Wallace, former Vice-President from his old Impact Communications work days.
