Old Cars Weekly: Imperial Dynasty
The September 1, 2026 edition highlights the Chrysler Imperial exhibit at the AACA Museum in Hershey, Pa., with the 1937 Chrysler's Chrysler as one of the main feature cars.
Howard Kroplick's 1937 LeBaron town car certainly fits in the "extremely historic" category, given that Walter Chrysler had it built as a gift for his wife, Della. Kroplick explained that he happened on the car by accident in 2009, when he found it in storage at a museum. After he cited its history and questioned its condition, he was told that it was not part of the collection and would be eventually sold. Several years later, he was the successful bidder at a private auction.
Howard Kroplick: "When I won the auction and they pointed at me, I said I can't believe that I just spent that much money on something that looks like it should go into the junk yard. But I knew. In researching it, i found pictures of it being produced by LeBaron and I said, 'This car will clean-up and it's unique'. There is no other car in the world that looks like this. It's totally unique."
