Meet the Rescue Vixens Car Club and Animal Rescue
The Rescue Vixens are a fun group of women combining the loves of vintage pinup girls, 40's-60's cars and animal rescue on Long Island.
They are Long Island’s oldest independent pinup group and the only all-female car booster club dedicated to more than just classic cars and vintage style. All of our members are volunteers for the North Fork Country Kids Animal Rescue. All money raised goes to the rescue. As proud members of the Fabulous 50's & 60's Car Club, we’re on a mission to make a difference. The Rescue Vixens proudly combine our passion for animal advocacy with community engagement, helping raise awareness and funds for neglected and homeless animals across Long Island.
Through exciting car shows, vibrant pinup appearances, and collaborations with local businesses, we bring energy, style, and purpose to every event. Whether it’s a grand opening, fundraiser, or community gathering, hiring us means supporting a cause that truly matters. Together, we can save lives, support local businesses, and bring our community closer—one car show at a time.
Recently, Writer Gwen Ackley and Vixens founding President Virginia Scudder reached out to VanderbiltCupRaces.Com to thank the site and show appreciation for a show mention on the site last fall.

Hi Howard,
Thought that you would like to know how your weekly newsletter has helped a car club group who helps an animal shelter. Last fall you had included in it a poster from the Rescue Vixen's Car and Coffee event. I happened to be writing an article on reasons to join a car club for the CT Cruise News. I wrote to them for permission to use their poster art in my article, which their President, Virginia Scudder gave to me.
About a month ago, while trying to come up with a topic for the next issue, I received an email request from Virginia. She was sending out an appeal to local writers to help them out. The hard winter was also very hard on the Veterinarian bills and the animal shelter was in debt. So I asked her to send photos, poster art and more information so that I could compose an article. It just came out on Friday in the May/June issue of CT Cruise News. It starts on the cover and is on page 40.
Link to the online flipbook is here:
So you never know how far reaching your weekly newsletter can be. Thank you for sending it out every weekend.
Happy Motoring,
Gwen Ackley
The Rescue Vixens Host Car Fun While Helping Animals in Need

I recently discovered a very unique Car Club in the North Fork region of Long Island, NY called Rescue Vixens.
What caught my eye was their brightly colored poster art that features very attractive pin-up girls posing with classic cars. These were reminiscent of the 1940s WWII aircraft mascots, and the ladies posing are just as dedicated as Rosie the Riveter to their cause. The flyer that I saw was for a Cars and Coffee event, including their own unique vintage fashion style, at the Peconic Bay Diner in Riverhead. I wrote to them to learn more about them.
The Rescue Vixens are a female run car booster organization (rescueVixens.com) that passionately help to fundraise for the North Fork Country Kids Animal Rescue. Their president, Virginia Scudder describes themselves as a small Not-For-Profit, volunteer-only organization on the North Fork of Long Island, New York.
“Rescue Vixens, in partnership with North Fork Country Kids Animal Rescue, is a Long Island–based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming neglected, abused, and homeless animals. Through our events, including our signature Deuces Wild Car Show, we combine a passion for classic cars, rockabilly culture, and animal advocacy to raise critical funds and awareness.
One of our most exciting ongoing initiatives is our Brewed to the Rescue collaboration with Twin Fork Beer Co., 807 Raynor Ave., in Riverhead, NY. Each month, we release limited-edition, collectible beer cans featuring Rescue Vixens artwork, with proceeds directly supporting the rescue. This partnership has become a creative and meaningful way to bring the community together while supporting both animal advocacy and a local small business.” The Rescue Vixens Deuces Wild was awarded “Best of Long Island” for Long Island Collectible Car Club this year. They achieved over 1.3 million votes! They hope to make this year’s car show even bigger and better.
With this past winter being particularly hard, it has been especially difficult for the animal rescue to pay its many expenses. The rescue currently owes thousands of dollars due to the larger number of cases. Virginia had recently written to me asking if I could please let the car community know about their upcoming car events.
Virginia described their upcoming car show: “Our upcoming major fundraiser is the Deuces Wild Car Show, taking place July 25 and 26 from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM at The Maples, 10 Ryerson Avenue in Manorville, NY.
- Saturday, July 25: Cruise-In Day
- Sunday, July 26: Judged Car Show
This two-day event will feature vendors, live music, great food, awards, and so much more. With over 125 trophies and a one-of-a-kind atmosphere, it is truly a standout event, with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to support our rescue efforts. We have over 125 awards. There will be a pinup contest with a meet and greet on Saturday and contest to become Miss Deuces Wild, held at noon on Sunday. Family fun!”
