The second installment of this series includes a neat map, poetry, George Robertson's "flight", a lot of bull and a supposed Vanderbilt Cup Race in NY in 1916! Enjoy!

A cool map showing the courses of the races through 1908 incorporating the Long Island Motor Parkway. (The Motor World Oct., 1908)
The 1908 race inspired poems that were published in local newspapers. Could this truly be "poetry in motion"? (Brooklyn Times Union Oct. 24, 1908)
The Dayton Motor Car Company team. The "camp" was headed by Joe Tracy. (The Automobile Oct. 8, 1908)
Can anyone identify the exact locaton of the Albert Gifford estate? (Brooklyn Daily Eagle Oct., 2, 1908)

Comments
Albert Gifford (1854-1910) was a watchman on E.D. Morgan’s estate, and the 1900 Census lists him immediately following Morgan’s estate employees, so it would have been north of the present day LIE - see the 1906 E. Belcher Hyde Atlas for an approx. location.
