John Russell Pope’s Last Motor Parkway Commission in Garden City
William K. Vanderbilt Jr's favorite architect for the Motor Parkway was John Russell Pope, who designed the first six toll lodges and the Petit Trianon Inn. Pope's last Motor Parkway commission was to design a Garden City office building in 1912 to be built adjacent to the Garden City Lodge.
Although Pope provided extensive design blueprints in the style of the toll lodges, the structure was never built.
