This is a photo taken at the 1904 Vanderbilt Cup Race. We are looking north on Jericho Turnpike in Old Westbury with the Hitchcock property in the background. The officials / press stand is visible which was on the north side of Jericho Tpke. between Hitchcock Lane and Powell Lane. Besides Willie K. in the foreground and Peter Prunty holding the megaphone, I think I see Jefferson DeMott Thompson seated directly to the left of the covered section of officials stand (above the megaphone).

This photo could be in Westbury, Long Island on Jericho Tpke, capturing a snippet of the first Vanderbilt Cup Race in 1904. Willie K in the foreground is looking west towards oncoming racers at the Start/Finish line between Post Rd and Hitchcock Ln. The Press Box is behind him. The Grandstand is out of view. The field behind Willie K was once a horse race track, today it serves as the Westbury High School grounds

This photo could’ve been taken in Westbury, Long Island on Jericho Tpke during the first Vanderbilt Cup Race in 1904. Photo is looking north. Willie K in the foreground is on the course looking west towards oncoming racers at the Start/Finish line between Post Rd and Hitchcock Ln. The photographer, also on the course, has captured the Press Box. The Grandstand is behind the photographer. The field in the distance once served as an oval horse track. Today it’s property of the Westbury High School

One more interesting article about Peter Prunty announcing something other than a sporting event: dinner plans?
