Large Crowd Attends Book-Signing for “The Long Island Motor Parkway”
Last night almost 100 people attended the book-signing and presentation of "The Long Island Motor Parkway" by Al Velocci and Howard Kroplick at the Book Revue in Huntington. The special presentation featured an interactive discussion of 20 images from the book and unique memorabilia including the plaque awarded to driver George Robertson for winning the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup Race. One of the myths of the Long Island Motor Parkway’s history was that there were 12 lodges designed by prominent architect John Russell Pope and built to collect tolls and provide housing for the toll-takers and their families. Long Island Motor Parkway Suffolk County Mystery Photo
Can anyone identify the location of this 1914 photo showing a car near the Long Island Motor Parkway? The car is adjacent to a sign that apparently reads " To Parkway Inn, Lake Ronkonkoma via the Motor Parkway". A smaller sign on the post indicates the direction to a company or store with the logo "AB". (8 comments)

New Exhibit on the Long Island Motor Parkway and Vanderbilt Cup Races at Roosevelt Field Mall
In celebration of the centennial anniversary of the Long Island Motor Parkway and the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup Race, a new exhibit is on display at the Roosevelt Field Mall from Friday, September 5th to Sunday, September 14th.The exhibit is located in the J.C.
