As a result, multiple car accidents occurred at the Motor Parkway bridges. Photos of two of these accidents in the 1930s were documented by the omnipresent photographer John Drennan and were discovered in the archives of Nassau County… (2 comments)

Then & Now: Potential Nassau Historical Markers on the Motor Parkway Trail
Nassau County is currently developing a master plan for a continuous multi-use Motor Parkway Trail. Part of the plan calls for the placement of markers "at the location of historical remnants and will serve as a way to educate the public on the history of the corridor as the original Long Island Motor Parkway..". The Northern State Motor Parkway Bridge in Lake Success
Mr. Bond, after rejecting a proposal to upgrade and expand the Long Island Motor Parkway, construction on the Northern State Parkway began in July 1931 at a ceremony jointly attended by Long Island State Park Commissioner Robert Moses and Governor Franklin D. Favorite Website: Porcelainplates.net-Motor Parkway License Plates
PorcelainPlates.net is the best website to learn all about the fascinating history of porcelain license plates from the United States and Canada. Developed by TV producer Eric Taylor, the website provides a state-by-state breakdown of almost every known variety of porcelain plates. Of course, my interest focuses on the Long Island Motor Parkway Plates section found in the New York Archive- Part II (scroll down a bit). (0 comments)
